Our Curriculum

Our goal is to effectively respond to the needs of all learners by utilizing a Differentiated Learning Model and to integrate the visual and performing arts in all subject areas of the curriculum whenever possible.

Differentiated Instruction is a teaching philosophy based on the premise that the teachers adapt the instruction to the students' learning differences. Teachers differentiate instruction by content, process, or product based on the readiness, interest, or learning profile of the student.

Florida Sunshine State Standard

The Sunshine State Standards are the centerpiece of a reform effort in Florida to align curriculum, instruction and assessment. They identify what students should know and be able to do to for the 21st century and are thus both content standards and performance standards. The standards are benchmarked at the developmental levels of PreK-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12 for the subjects of language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, the arts, health and physical education, and foreign languages. School districts are required to incorporate provisions for instruction of the Sunshine State Standards into their Pupil Progression Plan.

Accelerated Reader

Accelerated Reader
(AR) is a learning information system for reading and literacy skills. Thanks to our School Advisory Council, we have purchased the update for this program to bring us to the lastest web-based version called AR Enterprise. Now, instead of buying AR quizzes one at a time to match the books in our media collection, the entire catolog of over 130,000 AR quizzes is available to our students. That means students may take quizzes on books that they own and have read at home or checked out of other libraries, and that are not necessarily part of the Stevenson media collection.
